Duke German faculty members Michael Ryan and Jakob Norberg have received a grant from the university's Humanities Writ Large initiative to undertake a project with an innovative approach to course design, "Humanities on Demand." Together with five ACLS students, Ryan and Norberg will launch a website that will provide students with the opportunity to suggest material for their pilot course, Humanities on Demand: Narratives Gone Viral. In this course, students will explore a variety of narratives and the ways in which they circulate.

Together with two graduate students, Christian Straubhaar and Steffen Kaupp, Professor Ann Marie Rasmussen has received a Humanities Writ Large grant to undertake a project that will involve courses and culminate in an exhibition at the Nasher Museum of Art. The project is called "Rivalrous Masculinity: Images of the Male Body Over Time."
